Opt-in and opt-out in Email Marketing: what does that mean?
Do you know the difference between opt-in and opt-out in Email Marketing? Let’s see the difference!
Opt-in
Opt-in has to do with the consent of the client, that is, the person gives permission to receive emails from the company, such as communications, newsletters, promotions, etc. Usually, these emails are captured through a field inside the website that says “Subscribe” or “subscribe to our newsletter”, for example. It can also be through a landing page, where people put their contacts in exchange for something like an ebook.
Double opt-in
This is basically an enhanced opt-in, that is, a double confirmation of the interest in receiving Email Marketing. The person adds their data in the fields of the website. The company, after receiving the data of the interested person, sends an email with a confirmation link of the signature in the contact list. The interested person has to click on this link to confirm the signature. So you are reporting for the second time that you want to receive emails from the company.
Soft opt-in
Soft opt-in is an implicit way of sending communications to someone as it does not have explicit authorization, but there must be a prior relationship between the person and the company. In this case, people do not subscribe to the newsletter on the site. There must be a relationship between both parties that allows sending emails.
Soft opt-in lists are usually made from professional contacts. These contacts are usually collected at trade shows or business events. This form of contact is legal and therefore is not considered SPAM. However, the company should inform people about the possibility of including them in the contact list.
Opt out
Opt-out occurs when the user removes your subscription from the contact list at any time. The user clicks a link (mandatory) within the email that he received, without having to give any justification.
So now that you’ve understood the difference between the two, define the best way to get leads and send emails!
